Notable April 15th Dates In History

1865 – President Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the U.S., dies from an assassin’s bullet. Shot by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre in Washington the night before, Lincoln lived for nine hours before succumbing to the severe head wound he sustained.                        

1912 – TITANIC SINKS – At 2:20 a.m. the British ocean liner Titanic sinks into the North Atlantic Ocean about 400 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada. The massive ship, which carried 2,200 passengers and crew, had struck an iceberg 2 ½ hours before.

Special Notes Of Interest

Looking Ahead – The Dinner Theatre!        As you read this you’ll be only two days from  “The Sound of Music” on the 17th of April at Ike Hall!

Dinners at five, the shows at eight, if you don’t have tickets, sorry, you’re too late!

New Windsor/Cornwall club Fund Raiser – Saturday, May 16, 2-5 p.m. $300 Club.- Final drawing March 24 at Vassar, wine/cheese reception.

May 15th – Rotary Cleanup Day – The annual cleanup will kick off at the Town Of Highlands Ambulance Corps building at 9 a.m.

May 8th. Special Olympics – Volunteers gladly accepted.

Youth Exchange Letter – Either send someone to other country or post someone. $500.00 for outbound and $1500.00 for inbound students.

Poughkeepsie Club – A group study going to Brazil in May for 3 weeks. If you’re between 25-40 years of age and interested, shout!
