Special Note
In a manner befitting the Founder and Mentor of the
Bicentennial Rotary Club of West
Point-Highland Falls, NY, Brigadier General David W. Heister was remembered at
a memorial service in the Cadet Chapel at the United States Military Academy
and laid to rest on Monday, August 5, 2002 in the West Point Cemetery under a
bright, clear, and Sunny sky.
The
service of selective organ music and spoken words bore testimony to the life of
a gentlemen who lived the Rotary International Four Way Test coupled with years
of selfless to his Nation, Rotary International and the West Point-Highland
Falls Community.
Mrs. Doris Heister and the Heister Family greatly appreciate the words
and expressions of sympathy. Our Founder will never be forgotten for he single
handedly ensured that we were chartered on July 4, 1976, a monumental occasion
and when on to serve in several West Point-Highland Falls Club positions to
include its President in the Founding, Recruiting Years, Charter Years, 1979,
and Club Secretary in 1979.
Always a faithful and supporting Rotarian.
