Notable Historic August 14ths

1834 – 19 year old Richard Henry Dana set sail from Boston Harbor as a seaman. In 1840 published Two Years Before The Mast, regarding abuses endured by seamen.

1900 – Boxer Rebellion – Peking -  Diplomatic quarters besieged by Chinese Nationalists was relieved by an international force consisting of British, Russian,  French, American, Japanese,  and German troops.

Rotary Last Week- Re: Eisenhower Hall

Program Chairman Jim Whaley  – Introduced Bill Yost – Director of Eisenhower Hall who gave an interesting presentation on past events and celebrities who performed at “Ike” Hall”. This is the 30th season the Hall is in operation. It is second in size only to Radio City Hall in N.Y.C. To quote him on his question as to”how many bricks it took to complete Ike Hall?”, he supplied the answer: ”One, “the last brick”.  He invited Rotary to visit the stage, the same as it did 5 yrs. Ago,

Rotary Boat Ride

Annual Rotary boat ride – Sunday, August 24. Boat leaves the South Dock at 6pm. $20.00 per person to board. A minimum of 50 persons is required to get the boat launched! Bring guests. Good weather guaranteed.

Rotary Tailgate Football Game

Sept. 27th is the date for the tailgate game. Josh Brewer will coordinate the exchange students. Tom Enders is working on tickets & location. New Rochelle Rotary club wants to join us for this event.


District 7210 Conference
