Notable Historic December 4 Mystery

1872 –A small British brig commanded by Capt. David Morehouse, spotted an American ship, the “Mary Celeste”, sailing erratically but under full sail near the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean. The ship was seaworthy, its stores and supplies untouched, but not a soul was aboard.

The ships lifeboat and navigational instruments were missing. It remains a mystery to this day as to what had occurred aboard the ship.

Rotary Last Week

Let’s jump back 2 weeks ‘till November 20^th . This was supposed to be fruit pickup day. Unforeseen circumstances prevented this, and a regular meeting was held.

(Fruit arrived on Friday, 11/21.) At the meeting on November 13^th, Jim Whaley introduced Anna Tilley, Senior Prevention Specialist, Alcohol & Drug Abuse for

Orange County. She described her many duties. New member John McLennan was inducted. He was “pinned” by Farrell Patrick, who sponsored him. He was warmly

welcomed! It was also revealed that John, who was a member of the West Pt. Band, first met his wife at Shea Stadium in N.Y.C. while attending a Notre Dame game.

Looking Ahead - Dinner Theatre – April 27th 2004 – “The Sound of Music”.
