Notable February 02: “Ground Hog Day” – Early 18th Century German settlers adopted the ground hog, or woodchuck as their weather predictor. If it sees its shadow after winter hibernation, six more weeks of winter remain. If it doesn’t, it’s an early spring!

 

Rotary Last Week, January 26, 2006

Carl Onken, Pres. NY State School Board Association. – Pres. Onken gave a detailed breakdown of the Association, including its mission, the NY State Public School system, its budgeting requirements, Impact aid, No

Child left behind and the Governor’s proposal for State aid. This was an interesting and revealing program!

Honorary Member   Jim Donnelly, a Charter Member, two term President and dedicated member of the club is leaving to retire in South New Jersey. He was presented with an Honorary Senior Active Membership Certificate by the club. Good luck, Jim!

Phil Brillante Phil re-announced that ski lessons would be resuming on the ski slope. On safety, he advised all to wear appropriate reflective highway clothing! BE SEEN!

Theatre Party: “Shout it from the rooftops! It’s Thoroughly Modern Millie” on Sunday, May 7th 2006 in Eisenhower Hall”. Show at 3 pm; dinner will follow at 5pm.

The Holy Innocents Church thrift shop will be operating every Thurs. 10 am to 1 pm.

The Holy Innocents food pantry, 2nd & 4th Wednesday of month.

Sacred Heart Thrift Shop open 10am – 2pm; (4:30 Thursdays.)
