Rotary Club of West Point-Highland Falls, NY

Meetings are held 7:30 a.m. Thursdays at Hotel Thayer

January 25, 2007

Today’s Greeter – Farrell Patrick

Today’s Program – Ronnie Coffey, Author of “Highlands” (2006), on the “History of the Town of Highlands.”

Last Week’s Program

This was a somewhat truncated meeting due to the fact of light attendance. Some business, however, did transpire and follows: An application from Col. McMahon, recent club speaker on sexuality at the Academy was accepted. Bill Higgins made a motion to accept the application and Roy Spells seconded it. All present were in favor.

President Jerry discussed the program to send money to families of troops killed in Iraq. This is a Great Program Jerry started.

Shirley Bonsell discussed a Program being undertaken by the American Cancer Society at the Thayer Hotel. The Hotel has donated a basket for the football game in Montgomery, Ala. in February.  The basket will be raffled. The Thayer will provide a free weekend at the Hotel and Bob Wilson will enclose a letter in the donated basket. Nice work, folks!

Phil Brillante wasn’t present, but we won’t ‘slip up’ on his prior safety warning to “Watch out for the black ice.” Need I say anything further? Also, the “penny wars” are occurring in O’Neill H.S. Phil asks that loose change be brought to the meeting for “ammunition”.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing – A discussion was held regarding dates, places to ring bell, etc. May be discussed at a later time.

Update on What’s Doing ‘round Rotary? Idea’s needed for the Dinner Theatre, which comes up in March.

Also, thanks again to Kent & Dave, for their great articles which have appeared in the local News of the Highlands. Good work!

Elections will be coming up shortly.

(Does he now sell sweaters – or will he?”)
