Rotary Last Week

COL Stephen J. Ressler P.E., PhD Professor and Deputy Head Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering United States Military Academy provided a very interesting presentation on West Point’s bridge designing program. It consists of a competition in which there is no cost to compete and the is not limitation on hw many youngsters per school participate. Substantial prizes were award to those whose design proved to be a winner. The Colonel’s talk was bolstered by an excellent slide presentation.

Our newest Club member Richard A. Cortell a former Rotarian was elected. He was introduced by our President-Elect Cathy Kelly. Rich welcome to the West Point-Highland Falls Rotary Club.

Five of the seven James I. O’ Neill High School Class of 2003 West Point- Highland Falls Scholarship winners Christine Alford, Patricia Rose Barber, Veronica Clark Coffey, Justine Nicole Meyer, and Zachary Patrick Orrico attended the Club meeting. Ryan Robert Larson and Ashley Jenae Larson were unable to be present since they were already engaged with academic programs at college.

Phillip Brilliante was presented with a certificates for his outstanding efforts as Scholarship Committee Chairman.
