Rotary Last Week, October 27th

Michael D. O’Donovan, of the International Policy Task Force gave a presentation on international crime since the end of the cold war. The U.S. was badly burned in a number of operations involving foreign police. These experiences led to a revision of sec. 600 of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, training & assistance of foreign police. Mr. O’Donovan gave a breakdown on various situations world-wide, such as attempted assassinations, etc. where this assistance came into play.

Phil Brillante’s Safety News:

Roy Spells conveyed Phil’s safety message, which recommended that we check the colors of our window washer fluids. “If it’s blue, shame on you! – If it’s yellow, you’re safe, old fellow!”  (Jack Frost’s on his way!)

Next to the last reminder:  We’ll host the Exchange Students from England at the AAA Lot on Saturday, Nov, 12th.

Diana Cole: Once again, Diana is doing a great job coordinating the District Katrina fund.

Theatre Party Note: Harold Spaeth says: Don’t forget: Start making plans for the Theatre party on January 8, 2006. (The cost is still to be determined but we’ll know soon.)

The Holy Innocents Church thrift shop will be operating every Thurs. 10 am to 1 pm. 

The Holy Innocents food pantry, 2nd & 4th Wednesday of month.

Sacred Heart Thrift Shop open 10am – 2pm; (4:30 Thursdays.)

Last Call -The Warwick Valley Club is presenting their ‘250’ Club. (Fund-raiser date rescheduled to 11/5.) All proceeds to benefit the District’s raise the Roof campaign in Granada.

(At the business meeting on 9/21, the board voted to contribute $500 to this effort.)
