Notable Sept. 2nd in history –  VJ Day

1945 - On this day in 1945 in Tokyo Bay, Japan, The Battleship USS Missouri hosted the formal surrender of the Japanese Government to the Allies, ending WWII. VJ Day was joyously celebrated back in the States.


Rotary Last Week, August 26th                     

Some of the happenings at the meeting were:

Approval of hockey pucks with the Rotary logo.

Scholarship committee is looking for volunteers.

Jack Emmer working with the interact committee.  

Gus Fishburne related there are close to 80 signed up for Sunday’s boat ride. There will be a 50/50 drawing on board.

Request: The Boy Scout’s Patriot Garden in fort Montgomery seeks assistance.

Club’s Constitution & By-Laws are being reviewed & renewed by the board.

On February 23, 2005, the meeting will be held on Wednesday instead of Thursday in Commemoration of Rotary’s Centennial Celebration. Will coincide with clubs throughout the World.

Fishing trip – Att ‘n Anglers: Phil Brillante’s fishing trip set for September 15th. 20 seats left.

Jerry Sheehan - Still selling Ben Birillo’s Patriotic “Statue Of Liberty” scarf, which Ben donated to the club.  (Proceeds to the club.)

Jerry also has both gray and white male and female shirts with Rotary Logo. (Looks sharp!)

Mike Moss gave a “heads up” that the Christmas luncheon will be upon us before we know it.

New Windsor/Cornwall club Annual Charity Golf Outing. Sept. 13, 2004 at the   Powelton club, Newburgh, NY. Shot gun start at 9:30 A.M. Register 8:30 A.M.
